## Overview

Jürgen Mayer won a competition to redevelop a car park; excavation found Roman and Almohad remains, which are now displayed in the basement and which delayed and enlarged the project. The structure is bonded birch plywood on a steel core, and the walkway on top runs 250 metres over the roofs. It cost about three times its budget and the city argued about it for a decade; it is now the busiest public space in the old town.

## Highlights

Go up for sunset and walk the whole loop — the ticket includes a drink and the light show after dark is included in the evening slots. The Antiquarium in the basement is a separate small ticket and shows what the site cost to dig. The market underneath is a working market, not a food hall.
