## Overview

The Kop was named after a hill in the South African war where many local men died, and at its peak held 28,000 standing; it is seated now, as all English grounds are since 1989. You'll Never Walk Alone is sung before kick-off and the Hillsborough memorial by the Shankly Gates records the 97 who died at an away ground in that year, which is why the terraces went. The tour includes the dressing rooms and the This Is Anfield sign above the tunnel steps.

## Highlights

Match tickets are hard: the club sells to members first and the general sale is small. The tour is the reliable option and the museum is included. Book either well ahead — this is not a walk-up attraction.
