## Overview

The bridge closes the view down a straight avenue of plane trees on the canal, with moored boats on both sides — a composition that appears on most photographs of Annecy. It was built when the canal was cut through the old marsh to drain and landscape the lakefront. The gardens on the far side hold a swan population that has been there as long as anyone remembers.

## Highlights

Stand at the middle looking south down the canal to the lake, which is the shot. Early morning gives it empty; by noon there is a queue for the same photograph. Walk on into the Jardins de l'Europe and along the Pâquier to the lake shore, five minutes in either direction.
