## Overview

The Mongol elite favored practical narrow-sleeved robes and, for court banquets, the jisun — sets of matching one-color robes. Noblewomen wore the striking tall gugu headdress, and gold-brocaded silk (nasij) was especially prized.

## Key garments and style

Most Han people continued to wear their cross-collar robes, so Han and Mongol dress coexisted rather than merging.

## Transition

The Ming would make restoring Han dress a matter of state policy.
