## Overview

Under the Tran, who overcame national crisis, court dress was ordered while keeping tradition.

## Key garments and style

Princes and officials wore the Chinese-style cross-collar robe (áo giao lĩnh) with a cap. Bare feet, bound hair and the custom of blackening the teeth record a Vietnamese and Southeast Asian character, while the people kept practical native dress.

## Transition

After a brief Ming occupation, the Later Le dynasty regulated dress in fine detail under a Confucian order.
