## Overview

The dress of this pre-dynastic age is known from figurines and burials, and the growing of flax and weaving of linen began early.

## Key garments and style

Men wore a cloth wrapped at the waist and women a simple wrapped linen garment. Shell and bone ornaments and cosmetic palettes show that care for appearance was there from the start.

## Transition

As the dynasties began, the linen kilt and sheath dress settled as the basis of Egyptian dress.
