## Overview

The peninsula's dress kept a consistent two-piece structure of separate top and bottom, carrying a northern nomadic lineage while repeatedly absorbing mainland Chinese court dress and reworking it into its own form.

## The story of dress

The two-piece figures painted in Three Kingdoms tomb murals crystallised, under Joseon, into the classic hanbok with its very short jeogori and high, full chima. Once Western clothing became everyday wear in the modern era, the hanbok turned into festival and formal dress, and today South Korea is a centre of K-fashion.
