## Overview

In post-revolutionary Iran, the Islamic dress code framed dress.

## Key garments and style

Women were required to wear a headscarf (roosari) covering the hair and a manteau (coat) concealing the line of the body, or the all-covering chador. Men's dress is generally Western, but the necktie was avoided. Younger generations work colour and styling within the code, and a street fashion has grown.
