## Overview

In this age of Mongol rule, Eastern dress and textiles were brought to Iran.

## Key garments and style

The ruling class wore Mongol-style open-fronted robes and distinctive hats; the women's tall headdress (boghtagh) is also seen. Chinese dragon, phoenix and cloud motifs were woven into silk, and the manuscript paintings of works such as the Jami' al-tawarikh show Mongol-Persian dress.

## Transition

In the Timurid period these elements crystallised into the court dress of Persian miniature painting.
