## Overview

The dress of Gojoseon, regarded as the peninsula's earliest state, can only be inferred from texts and evidence from neighbouring regions; fibres such as hemp were used.

## Key garments and style

The basis was a close upper garment (the ancestor of the jeogori) with loose trousers held by a sash, sharing the lineage of the horse-riding cultures of northern Eurasia since the Scythians.

## Transition

As Chinese influence reached the peninsula with commanderies such as Lelang, the two-piece structure was kept and passed on to the Three Kingdoms.
